  • Trading or Selling your books.

Contact us first, if you are planning a garage sale, book sale fund raiser or you are liquidating a library or an estate. You will make more selling your books to us.

    What We Accept:

We take clean, shiny books that we can put straight on the shelves. Some exceptions may be made for desirable books. We do not accept Readers Digest Condensed Books, magazines or books that are soiled, wet, damaged, etc. In short; if you wouldn't buy it in the condition it's in, other folks probably wouldn't buy it either. We reserve the right to refuse any book.

Please DO NOT email or fax us lists of books you wish to sell. We need to check the condition, printing history, edition, etc., before we make an offer on your books and this isn't something we can do from an emailed or printed list.

    When:

  • We are always buying and trading books.
  • We do house calls if you have a large library to sell.
  • Bringing more than a box of books? We recommend you call us first and make an appointment.

Please wait while we check your books. Browse the store, we will take less time than you think. Be prepared to carry away the books we may not take. Right now we are looking for:

  • Science fiction
  • Fantasy
  • Mystery
  • Philosophy
  • Religion
  • Metaphysics
  • Getting Trade Credit: You receive credit for half of what we think we can sell the book for. Usually we sell for about half of cover price (cover price is the original price printed on the book), less for trade size paperbacks (the big ones) and much less for hardcovers.

Using Trade Credit: Your credit account is tracked at the store and you can use your trade credit to buy books, no cash required. The only restriction is that, to buy collectible books with credit you must trade in collectable books. (Burquitlam folks please see Burquitlam credits.)

Getting Cash: We can pay cash for some books; about half of what we offer in credit.

Burquitlam Credits: Were you once Burquitlam Books customer? Although Companion Book is not, in any way, affiliated with the former Burquitlam Books, Companion Book will honour a portion of your trade credits from Burquitlam Books to a maximum of $50. Your Burquitlam credits work exactly the same way as they did at Burquitlam Books. Call us, or come on in and see us in person. We look forward to meeting you!
