Trading or Selling your books to Companion Book.
What We Accept:
We take clean, shiny books that we can put straight on the shelves. Some exceptions may be made for desirable books. We are always looking for current best sellers.
We do not accept Readers Digest Condensed Books, Encyclopedias, magazines or books that are soiled, wet, damaged, etc. In short; if you wouldn't buy it in the condition it's in, other folks probably wouldn't buy it either. Companion Book reserves the right to refuse any book.
Please DO NOT email or fax us lists of books you wish to sell. We need to check the condition, printing history, edition, etc, before we make an offer on your books and this isn't something we can do from an emailed or printed list.
Please wait while we check your books. Browse the store; we will take less time than you think. Be prepared to carry away the books we may not take. Don't be offended if we don't take all your books. Supply, demand and storage space determine the quantity of books we can take.
When should I bring in my books?
Getting Companion Book Trade Credit:
We will offer up to 50% of our retail price in store credit, based on our assessment of how quickly we think your books will sell.
Using Companion Book Trade Credit:
Your trade credit account is tracked at the store. You can use your trade credit to buy previously loved books - no cash required.
You may use Companion Book trade credit toward 20% of the price of New books (ones we've brought in from the publishers).
To buy collectable books with trade credit you must trade in collectable books. We track collectable credits separately from regular credits.
Trade credit has no cash value and therefore cannot be converted into cash or used to purchase gift certificates. Trade credit is taken off purchases before any other special coupons or promotions are applied.
Planning a Garage Sale or Fund Raising Event?
Contact us first if you are planning a garage sale, book sale fund raiser, or you are liquidating a library or an estate. You will make more selling your books to us.
Estate Sales and Larger Collections
If you are offering an estate collection or a large personal library for sale, please contact us at 604.293.2665 to arrange an appointment. A Companion Book Buyer will make house calls for particularly large collections.
Getting Cash for your books:
We will offer up to 25% of our retail price in cash. We will generally not pay cash for common authors and titles which we can easily obtain from other customers on trade.
Burquitlam Credits:
Were you once a Burquitlam Books customer? Although Companion Book is not, in any way, affiliated with the former Burquitlam Books, we will honour a portion of your trade credits from Burquitlam Books to a maximum of $50.
Your Burquitlam credits work exactly the same way as they did at Burquitlam Books. Call us, or come on in and see us in person. We look forward to meeting you!
